Equity in Action: Significant ELA Gains for Robeson County Students with EL Education: Powered by Kiddom
Behind the Numbers: Why it Worked
EL Education: Powered by Kiddom drove measurable ELA proficiency gains across Grades 3–8. By increasing the usability of this evidence-based program, Kiddom enables teachers across all experience levels to implement it with confidence and fidelity. Gains were both widespread and equitably distributed, with especially strong progress among historically underserved groups, including economically disadvantaged students.

Key Findings
After full district-wide adoption, Robeson County Schools saw ELA proficiency increase across Grades 3–8, with the greatest improvements in early grades. Economically disadvantaged students in Grades 3–5 gained 5.8% to 6.5%, highlighting substantial and equitable progress in just one year.
Overall Growth in ELA Proficiency (Grades 3–8)
From 2021–2022 (pre-adoption) to 2023–2024 (first full year of implementation), ELA proficiency in Grades 3–8 rose by an average of 8 percent (Figure 1). The largest gains were observed in Grades 3–5.
Impact on Economically Disadvantaged Elementary Learners
Economically disadvantaged students in Grades 3–5 saw notable ELA gains following full adoption, with proficiency increases ranging from 5.8% to 6.5% across all three grades (Figure 2). These gains demonstrate meaningful academic growth among traditionally underserved students and highlight Kiddom’s ability to increase access and impact for all learners.
